Dental Internship Stories: Part 10
New style to researching.

Lots of research today, but slightly different. I almost exclusively worked on my research project today. Oh, I did a little front desk work, but very minimal. About the new style, my dad had previously told us to find and call the dental offices directly, instead of recording all 10 offices into the Google spreadsheet first and then calling the dental offices at once. Well, I don't know if the new method was any faster, but it had me be far more productive than before. Like, way more. Before, I might find around 20 offices because I wasn't working hard. It was too easy to go onto another tab and look at other things instead of focusing on finding dental office websites. With my dad's new method, however, you're constantly calling, which means you don't have the temptation of the extra tab (well, you still do, but you're on your phone, not your laptop). So by the end of the day, I probably called like over 50 different offices and managing to record around 15-20 new dental offices to our spreadsheet. Pretty solid, right?
I was actually proud of my effort today, being less distracted during work. But I was also sad at how slow the progress was. I had only finished 15-20 offices in 9 hours? How were we supposed to find 500 dental offices? It also didn't help that some of the dental offices were closed until after July 4th, which narrowed the options even further. So, on any other day, I could have found even more. But today bright spot was the productivity. My dad had said he wanted all 500 dental offices completed by this Wednesday, but by looking at it, we're not going to get there. But that's ok because of the effort I put into today at work. Not to brag, but I am genuinely happy looking back at the work I did today. Let's hope I keep this up.
