School Stories: Part 43

The past two basketball games couldn't have been more different. Yesterday was probably one of the best basketball games I've ever been a part of. We played one of the highest ranked teams we're playing all season, and for the first half, it seemed like all hope was lost. We were down 14 to end the half, but they were winning by almost 20 at one point. Also, our point guard hurt his knee, so he was out (still is). But in the second half, we locked in. We locked them up on defense, nailed crucial threes, and got important stops and steals on defense. In the end, we won by one point. Even though I didn't play at all last night, it was still one of our greatest victories.

Today was different. We played one of the worst teams we're playing all season, and we expected to smack these guys. Like, everyone was loose and chill. No one really was locked in. And it came to bite us. They kept on tipping the ball away and getting open breakaways, and we didn't run as hard on defense. It got to the point where the coach literally subbed the entire starting 5 off at once and put in all us bench players, just to show the team how he meant business. I also had a horrible game. I severely missed both of the threes I took, whiffed an easy layup, and fouled like crazy. I only got one point from free throws and missed my second one. Looking back, I wished I played better, and I'm looking to improve on Monday.
